St Asaph City: North Wales club pleads for funding after flooding

A North Wales football club is in desperate for help after Storm Ciara devastated their home ground.

St Asaph City, based in Denbighshire, North Wales has felt the full effect of the heavy rain and wind gusts which reached up to 93mph.

Their Roe Plas home has fallen victim to flooding with their pitch waterlogged, as well as their kit and equipment being damaged.

The damage could have serious implications on the clubs future, with relegation a possibility.

St Asaph City applied for the Tier Three certificate, which would allow them to continue playing at the level they currently play.

The club has nine remaining fixtures this evening, with five being scheduled on their pitch.

St Asaph were in the middle of renovating their ground in an attempt to reach the requirements before the natural disaster occurred.

In 2013, the club received up to £10,000 from UEFA after their pitch was damaged by serious flooding in November 2012.

A JustGiving page has been set up by St Asaph City which will help go towards funding the repairs.
