STM Sports will be relegated from the JD Cymru South after failing in their FAW domestic licence bid.

Caerau Ely, Colwyn Bay and Llanelli Town were all successful on appeal and will be eligible to compete in their respective divisions.

STM Sports however have had their appeal rejected and face a demotion to the FAW’s Tier Three regional leagues.

A decision is yet to be made on whether promotion and relegation will be implemented by the FAW, however, with STM Sports not possessing the Tier Two certificate, they will not be eligible to compete at Cymru South level for the 2020/21 season.

The relegation comes just a few months after the Mellons had competed in the Nathaniel MG Cup final.

Welsh League champions Trefelin were granted the licence along with Port Talbot Town and Risca United all secured the Tier Two licence, but await whether promotion will be implemented by the FAW.

Croesyceiliog and Penydarren BGC opted not to appeal against the decision to not be granted a Tier Two licence.

A brief statement from Llanelli, which secured their second-tier status for another season said: “We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the Tier Two licence on appeal.

“Many thanks to all those who worked on getting the appeal to be successful.”
