Wrexham A.F.C has announced that film stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are the duo who are interested in taking over the club.

It was revealed earlier this month that “two extremely well-known individuals of high net worth” had approached the club with interest in a takeover. With the pair willing to invest two million pounds immediately into the club to help with current affairs.

And now the identity of the pair has now been revealed to the public after members of the Supporters Trust voted in favour of the talks proceeding.

Canadian Ryan Reynolds, 43, is a popular Hollywood actor and has starred in films such as Deadpool and Detective Pikachu.

McElhenney meanwhile, has featured in popular American television show It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Another special general meeting will take place sometime in the near future, with Reynolds and McElhenney proposing their plans with the club. The members of the Wrexham Supporters Trust will then vote as to whether they approve of the takeover or not.

The club has prestigious history having won a record 23 Welsh Cups, allowing them to play in Europe. In which they played in the European Cup Winners’ Cup, facing off with the likes of FC Porto of which they defeated in 1984.

They pulled off one of the greatest upsets in FA Cup history in 1992 when they knocked out reigning English champions Arsenal.

The Red Dragons play their home games at the Racecourse Ground which is the oldest international stadium in the world. With plans also to renovate the Kop stand which was the largest all-standing terrace in the Football League at the time of its use.
