Ardal Leagues expected to start in January with shortened season

The Ardal Leagues have agreed a format should their season be given the go-ahead from Sport Wales.

All four divisions which consist of 16 teams in each, will see the usual 30 game season halved to 15 matches played, with each side playing each other once. Some sides will have eight home matches and seven away, this will be decided by a random draw.

Promotion and relegation will still take place despite the truncated campaign to the Cymru North and the Cymru South, as well as demotion to the feeder leagues.

The league champions will be promoted automatically, meanwhile the runners-up will compete in a promotion playoffs. 

The third tier of Welsh football is now waiting on guidance from Sport Wales so they can be given the go-ahead to start their season.

A potential start date for the league is at the end of January, following the ‘successful implementation of the Tier Two protoco
