Gemma Grainger has announced her 26-player squad for Wales’ friendly against Scotland at Parc Y Scarlets on Tuesday 15 June.

Grainger has selected an almost full-strength squad which includes both Jess Fishlock and Angharad James who will be returning from their NWSL sides.

Hayley Ladd returns after withdrawing from the squad that faced Canada and Denmark in April with injury.

Also returning from injury is Megan Wynne after recovering from the ACL injury she sustained towards the start of the season.

Wynne last played for Wales in March 2020 and she scored during the 2-0 win against Estonia at the Racecourse ground.

Grainger said: “I met Meg after the Denmark game, she’s had a long recovery from injury so it’s nice to get her back in the squad.

“The squad in June is a really good opportunity for me to see a couple of players before we select for the squad in September.”

After making her debut in the last camp, Ceri Holland misses out on this squad through injury.

“Since Ceri come back from America she has hit the ground running with club and country,” the Wales boss added.

“This injury will be an opportunity for her to get some rest ahead of September.

“If there was going to be a time for this to happen then I guess now is the best time.”

Another player to miss out is Rhian Cleverly who was voted Lewes’ Players’ player and Coaches’ Player of season.

Maria Francis-Jones and Bethan Roberts are included after being a part of Wales’ U19 training camp earlier this month.

There was no place however for the likes of Chloe O’Connor, Phoebie Poole and Stacey John-Davis who have all shone in the Welsh Premier Women’s League this season.

Welsh domestic players have completed a 16-game campaign alongside the League Cup competition, however, they have been overlooked in this instance.

Cymru last faced Scotland during the 2017 Cyprus Cup which Scotland won 6-5 on penalties.
