Abergavenny Women are on the verge of a return to the Adran Premier after they beat Cascade Ladies 3-0 to win the Adran South title.

A hat-trick from Amy Thrupp put Abergavenny on their way to victory over Cascade in the Pennies’ final game of the season, winning their 12th match, giving them a points tally of 37.

Claiming their 12th win of the season, dropped points in only two of their fixtures, a recent defeat to Briton Ferry, and also a draw back in November.

Abergavenny netted an impressive 87 goals, 48 more than nearest placed Briton Ferry. They also conceded just eight goals.

The three top scorers in the division, Lyndsey Davies, Maxine Mudge, and Lauren Boyd all netted 24, 14, and 12 goals respectively.

As a result of their title win, Craig Morgan-Hill’s side are in line for promotion to the Adran Premier, subject to passing the compulsory tier-one licence requirements.

No play-off between themselves and Llandudno will need to be played as the North champions nor the runners-up did not apply for the licence.

The outcome of the licensing decisions are due to come in the next three weeks and should they pass in front of the First Instance Body, then their place will be secured amongst Welsh football’s top flight.

Abergavenny were last season relegated from the then-named Welsh Premier Women’s League, despite a fourth-placed finish.

A reshuffling of the Women’s top-flight saw Barry Town United and The New Saints admitted whilst Abergavenny, Briton Ferry, and Cascade were demoted.

Abergavenny Women: Charlotte Hastings, Elena Scrivens (Carys Lowley, 88), Ffion Simmonds, Mali Summers, Lauren Boyd (Jessica Bennett, 72), Olivia Barnes, Maxine Mudge, Ceri Hudson, Lyndsey Davies, Amy Thrupp, Sian Bull (Megan Jones, 86)
