The 2022/23 Cymru Leagues line-up has been finalised with promotion and relegation sorted.

Following Porthmadog’s 5-0 win over Caersws in late May, we know the identity of all 44 teams in the first and second tiers of Welsh football.

The Ardal Leagues provided us with six teams to both the Cymru North and Cymru South with two league champions and two play-off winners, in what has been a welcome refreshment to the league setup.

Starting off, we saw Barry Town United and the Cefn Druids relegated from the Cymru Premier. The Ancients finished rock bottom whilst the Linnets’ five-year stay was ended after an 11th-placed finish.

Airbus UK Broughton were promoted after winning the north division whilst Pontypridd Town, who finished second to champions Llantwit Major, took their place after obtaining the Tier One Licence.

Bangor City’s withdrawal in February left the division with 15 teams leaving just two relegation spots and going down were Llanrhaeadr and Llangefni Town. They were replaced by Chirk AAA, who won the Ardal North East whilst Mold Alexandra claimed the Ardal North West title. As mentioned, Porthmadog were the final north Walian team to win promotion.

At the opposite end of the compass, there were three teams relegated with Port Talbot Town finishing the season without registering a single point. They were joined by Undy Athletic and Risca United, with the Cuckoos relegated after a dramatic final day.

Pontardawe won the South West title after winning against Penydarren on the final day, rejoining the second tier for the first time since 2015.

For Abergavenny, this is their first venture into this level of football, the Pennies won the South East title after a significant points deduction to Goytre.

Joining them were Ynyshir Albions, who despite a one-man disadvantage, comfortably beat Abertillery Bluebirds 3-0.
