Pontypridd United host Newtown at the USW Sport Park in the tenth game of the Cymru Premier season.

Both teams turn their attentions back to the league after being involved in Welsh Cup action last weekend. Both teams avoided an upset against lower-league opposition.

Pontypridd squeezed past Chepstow Town winning 2-1 thanks to a brace from on-loan Newport County attacker Lewys Twamley. Newtown comfortably beat Cardiff Corinthians 8-1 with braces for Brett Taylor, Nick Rushton, and Louis Robles as well as goals from Aaron Williams and Jake Walker.

As for the league standings, Pontypridd are two places higher than Newtown in ninth place with two points separating the two teams. Chris Hughes’ men have had a slow start to the season on the back of their UEFA Europa Conference League qualifying campaign. One of only two league wins this season have come on their travels when they beat Haverfordwest County in early September.

Andrew Stokes’ side have picked up a majority of their points in front of their own supporters with all victories coming at home. Pontypridd have beaten Aberystwyth, Airbus, and Caernarfon Town at the Sport Park in what has been close-fought affairs.

As for each side’s danger man, summer signings Jarrad Wright and Danny Williams have two goals apiece in all competitions this season for Pontypridd. Former Newport County forward Aaron Williams is the Robins’ best goal threat with seven goals in nine matches in all competitions so far.
