Akeel Francis has announced he is leaving Flint Town United after deciding the journey to the Cymru Premier club is too far, bringing his spell with the Silkmen to an end after just seven appearances.
The 27-year-old joined Flint this summer from Clay Cross Town but has now confirmed his departure, explaining that the travel involved has forced him to make a difficult decision.
Francis thanked everyone at the club for the opportunity and wished the Silkmen well for the future, with Flint responding by sending the departing player a message of support.

In a statement, Francis said: “I just want to say a big thank you to everyone at Flint.
“Unfortunately, the travel is just too far for me so I’ve had to make the difficult decision to leave.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity & wish the club & everyone involved all the best for the future.”
The forward’s comments suggest the distance involved in travelling to and from the club ultimately proved too difficult to manage, bringing his time at the Essity Stadium to an end.
Flint responded warmly to the announcement, posting: “All the best for the future Akeel. Once a Silkman always a Silkman.”

Francis made seven appearances for the Silkmen
Francis made seven appearances for Flint after arriving from Clay during the summer, although his involvement had been limited in recent weeks.
He was not included in the match-day squad for Flint’s most recent outing, a Welsh Cup defeat to Caernarfon Town.
The striker had featured in three Cymru Premier matches since Danny Holmes took charge following Lee Fowler’s departure from the dugout. However, only two of those appearances had been starts.
His departure marks the end of a brief spell with the Silkmen as the club continues its campaign in the Welsh top flight.
