Jamie Sherwood has resigned from his role as manager of Swansea City.

Sherwood, who had previously managed Yeovil Town in the WSL, joined Swansea in May 2024, taking over from Chris Church.

But, despite an early South Wales Derby win over Cardiff City at the Swansea.com Stadium, Sherwood has endured a difficult time in charge of the Swans.

For the first time ever, Swansea City finished fifth under his tenure, failing to make the top four and battle for the Adran Premier title.

Sherwood was not on the touchline for Swansea’s 2-1 victory away at Cardiff Met on Sunday. Yzzy Taylor took charge for that game, and she will take charge of the club until the end of the season.

Sherwood leaves Swansea in fifth place in the Plate Conference.

Swansea City club statement

In a club statement, Swansea City said the following:Swansea City Women can confirm Jamie Sherwood has left his position as first-team manager by mutual consent.

“Sherwood took over the role in May 2024, having previously held coaching positions with Yeovil Town Women, Cardiff City Ladies and Bridgwater United Women.

“He departs with Swansea City Women currently sitting fifth in the Genero Adran Premier table with four games remaining.

“The club would like to place on record its thanks to Jamie for his efforts while in charge.

“Assistant manager Yzzy Taylor will assume the role of caretaker head coach on an interim basis.

“The 31-year-old is also a part of the Wales Women Under-19s’ coaching team, a role she will continue alongside her duties with the Swans.”
