TEAM OF THE SEASON: Huws Gray Alliance

As another eventful Huws Gray Alliance season reaches its climax, Matty Hughes gives his view on the stars that have shone brightest this term.

Manager: Steve Halliwell (Gresford Athletic)

After taking the job on an interim basis back in November, Halliwell has arguably proven he is more than capable of managing in the Huws Gray Alliance, with the Clappers Lane outfit currently sitting third in the league.

Goalkeeper: John-Hill-Dunt (Denbigh Town)

The former Prestatyn and Gresford Athletic goalkeeper joined boss Eddie Maurice-Jones at Denbigh Town this season, and has helped them move up the table by injecting some much-needed experience and quality between the sticks.

Right-Back: Tom Kemp (Prestatyn Town)

Kemp is an attacking full-back who has played a crucial part in Prestatyn Town’s title-winning squad. The lively 22-year-old is understandably regarded as one of the Huws Gray Alliance’s hottest prospects.

Centre-Back: Gareth Edwards (Caernarfon Town)

The tall and imposing centre-back has enjoyed another strong season at the back for Caernarfon Town, with a series of assured defensive performances helping his side to second behind runaway champions Prestatyn.

Centre-Back: Max Peate (Gresford Athletic)

Peate is a very organised and consistent defender for Gresford, and has undoubtedly brought leadership to the heart of the defence. He also knows where the back of the net is, scoring five goals this season so far.

Left-back: Nathan Craig (Caernarfon Town)

An impressive series of performances has seen the attacking full-back score 15 goals this season for the Cofis. The former Everton trainee and Wales U21s international has proved particularly dangerous from set pieces, having scored some quality free kicks.

Midfielder: Mike Parker (Prestatyn Town)

The Seasiders skipper has proved an important player once again for Prestatyn after turning in a number of consistent performances, scoring five goals so far this season. He’s been very loyal to his hometown club and deserves to be playing for them in the WPL again.

Midfield: Noah Edwards (Prestatyn Town)

Edwards has put in some impressive performances from midfield this season, and certainly looks to have the potential to play in the Welsh Premier League. That ambition could be a reality if the Seasiders are successful with their FAW Domestic License application.

Midfield: Levi Mackin (Flint Town United)

The former Rhyl and Bangor City star, who joined the Silkmen at the start of the season, likes to break things up in the middle of the park and has shown plenty of tenacity at the heart of the United midfield, where he has made 17 appearances this season.

Striker: Jordan Davies (Prestatyn Town)

It’s been an enjoyable season for Davies, who is currently the league’s top scorer with 27 goals this season. His lightning pace has already been catching the eye of Welsh Premier League sides, with Connah’s Quay manager Andy Morrison his latest admirer. Seasiders boss Neil Gibson will be looking to keep hold of the striker as he plots his side’s assault on the top flight next season.

Striker: Jake Eyre (Denbigh Town)

Once a regular in Sheffield United’s U21s side, Eyre has since gone on to play in the Welsh Premier League with Airbus UK and Rhyl. He joined Gresford under Eddie Maurice-Jones, before moving t0 Denbigh. The striker has been in lethal form this season, netting 18 goals this season.

Striker: Jamie Breese (Caernarfon Town)

The prolific goalscorer has been excellent for Caernarfon since joining in 2015, and has become a strong fans’ favourite at the Oval. Another eye-catching season has seen Breese score 17 goals so far this term.
