Wells eyes Cup win after resurgent promotion season

Ynshir Albion boss Craig Wells says his eyeing a Cup win today after turning around the Buns season to get promoted.

Ynshir Albions entertain Cardiff Draconians at Ivor Park, Pontyclun this afternoon as the two promoted sides who made their way to Premier Division meet in an end of season show case.

The Ynshir boss has spoken on how delighted they’d be if they won the cup today, topping off a ‘successful season.’

“Winning the cup would be the perfect way to end what is already a very successful season. Having won the cup with the club as a player, I definitely feel that this would top that achievement on a personal note. As a manager you feel the up’s and down of a season much more closely and I can’t describe how proud I will be if we have our hands on the trophy come Saturday.”

Of course playing in the same division may have its benefits as they have already played the Draconians twice so know what they’re coming up against.

“Having played the Dracs twice this season we know exactly what to expect on Saturday and how tough it’ll be. I’m a believer that the league table doesn’t lie and they are the deserved champions. There is no question that they go into the game as strong favourites for this game.”

Ynshir Albions returned to the Premier Divison under the guideanceship of former player and now manager Wells and he expressed his delight of winning promotion to the Premier Division.

“Taking Ynyshir Albions back to the Premier Division means so much to both myself and the club.  The players have really bought into what the club are trying to achieve and their attitude has been superb from day one.  Back to back promotions have not happened lightly and it has only been made possible by 2 years relentless hard work on and off the field.  I couldn’t be more proud and thankful for the effort the players, committee and my assistant Dane Williams have given.  Long may it continue.”

The story of Ynshir’s season though has been their dramatic turnaround after losing their first few games. They put an impressive run of form together and achieved promotion.

“Our early season was by no mean smooth and the loss of several key players to injury and departure was tough. It also corresponded with a bad run or results which saw us take just 11 points from the opening 27 available. However, that doesn’t tell the whole story and I always took encouragement from our performances at that time and the response and togetherness shown by the players to pull the team through that run really sums up what this club is about. 20 wins from the next 23 games, is exceptional and only possible due to the outstanding attitude of the squad.”
Being promoted has given the Buns a chance of being promoted to the Welsh League, being only a league away.

” It’s an ambition that I’ve held since from my first involvement with this great club over 15 years ago and although the club doesn’t have big financial backing, the attitude and sprint running through the club through good times and bad can’t be bought, and the club is going to give it everything we have achieve it.
One player that has stood out for Ynshir has been their forward Leon Anstee
Leon Anstee has been superb from is this season.  28 goals to any team is worth so much but with Leon it only tells part of the story.  An ever present for the last two season (every single minute this season) he has lead the line superbly week in week out and has been vital to what we’ve achieved.  I’ve mentioned to him a few times about hitting that 30 goal mark and who knows, maybe Saturday he will.
