Carno make quintuple signing as five arrive at Ty Brith

Carno have wasted no time in boosting their resources ahead of the upcoming season, having confirmed the signings of five new players already.

The Spar Mid Wales side finished second in the region’s top tier in 2016/17, and have their sights set firmly on going one step further when the new campaign arrives.

Goalkeeper Steffan Harri has been brought in to provide competition with stopper Kris Williams, with the former Wales Under 18 goalkeeper signed from potential title rivals Llanfair United.

Carno have also raided Huws Gray Alliance outfit Caersws, with defender Tom Richards and midield maestro Scott Williams both committing for the upcoming season. Richards had represented the Bluebirds for six seasons.

Richards’ new boss sang his praises and signalled that a signing of his calibre shows the plans of Carno Football Club this season.

“It’s a big signing for the club and shows our intentions from the off”. Williams had also been at Caersws for three seasons, having also had a short spell at his new club in 2014.

The defensive ranks have been bolstered further with the acquisitions of Adam Williams, who returns to Carno after a season at Abermule, and Dan Goodman, who also returns to Ty Brith after two seasons with Spar Mid Wales Division 1 Champions Rhayader Town.

Williams, who was an integral part of the Carno side that won the Central Wales Cup in 2016, enjoyed a successful season for Abermule, winning the club’s players’ player of the season award.

Carno boss Chris Davies who was speaking to the clubs official website had this to say about Goodman, “It’s great for us to bring in someone with experience and he’s a great character to have in the changing room”.

The Greens influx of movement in the transfer market has offset the losses of winger Richie Evans, midfielder Ashley Owen and defender Drew Reynolds, who have all departed Ty Brith in favour of Llanidloes Town.
