Welsh Premier League Cefn Druids loan duo to local Cymru Alliance sides

Ben Burrows and Joel Thompson will join Wrexham-based Cymru Alliance sides Gresford Athletic and Queens Park on loan deals as they look to gain experience playing first team football in order to break into the Druids starting squad.

Burrows is a defensive minded player who signed for Druids from Wrexham Youth in July after impressing the coaches whilst playing pre-season games with the club.  He’ll be spending a season with Gresford Athletic who have started the 17/18 Cymru Alliance season with a poor run of form.

Gresford will be hoping the former Captain of the Wrexham Youth side, who can play anywhere in defence as well as midfield, will be a strong, versatile option who will greatly improve a side which has conceded 11 goals in just four league games and help the side to find winning ways.

Thompson, who is Druids second choice Goalkeeper behind Michael Jones, will link up with newcomers to the Cymru Alliance Queens Park until January after joining Druids from Stockport on a free transfer early in July.

The 20 year- old will have to compete with both Joey Jones and Callum Thurnham who have both featured between the sticks for Queens Park in the league this season with both showing they are more than capable despite the number of goals they’ve conceeded in recent defeats to Rhyl (six) and Flint Town United (four).

The pair are very talented and should be great additions to the sides as Cefn Druids continue to show their support for local football in the Wrexham area.  Something they first highlighted the importance of when they made connections with Cefn Albion earlier this year.

Both players will relish in the opportunity to improve their game and be a part of Druids in future seasons and are definitely players to watch out for in the Cymru Alliance throughout the season.
