Connah’s Quay Nomads have announced the signing of Laurence Wilson, after the full-back left relegated Bangor City.
Wilson is the Nomads’ second signing of the summer transfer window, following the arrival of Danny Holmes; also from Bangor City.
The 31-year-old began his career with Everton, before moving on loan to Mansfield Town, and later completing a permanent move to Chester City.
The Liverpudlian was an ever-present in a Bangor City side which finished 2nd in last season’s JD Welsh Premier League.
Speaking to the-nomads.co.uk on the move, manager Andy Morrison said: “We’re delighted to bring in Laurence – his experience and quality will bring a different dimension to our offensive play.”
The defender joined the Citizens from Morecambe in August 2016, and would go on to make over 40 appearances for the North Wales side.
Wilson has played over 300 games in his career, his other previous clubs include: Morecambe, Rotherham and Accrington Stanley.
The departure of Wilson from the Citizens continues the player exodus following their relegation. In addition to Holmes and Wilson, centre-back Anthony Miley was unveiled as a Bala Town player last week.
He was capped for the England U19 side in 2005, when the Three Lions lost to France in the final of the European Championship.
The left-back, who can also play on the left side of the midfield, joins a Nomads team which had the best defensive record in the league last season; conceding only 29 goals in 32 games.
The Deeside team finished third in last season’s JD Welsh Premier League, three points behind second-placed Bangor City and 17 points behind champions The New Saints.
