Ian Summers and Paul Lovell suffered defeat to Penydarren on their first game in charge of Chepstow Town.
The pair took over from Darren Jones but were unable to turn the clubs fortunes around in their first game in charge as Penydarren moved up to fifth with the victory.
Joshua Brogden scored a brace for the Merthyr Tydfil based side whilst Alex Long and Asa Lloyd were also on the scoresheet. Chepstow Town had a man sent off as Dan Wills was shown a red card. Ben Thompson, however, did score a consolation goal to mark a new era at Chepstow.
Kerry Mullins made two changes from his side which last played almost a month ago in their victory over Ynystawe Athletic in the FAW Trophy. It saw youngster Corey Leighton come in for the missing Christopher Colvin-Owen and Jamie Howells for the suspended Alex Lloyd.
The game started in an intense fashion with both teams looking sharp from the outset but the visitors knew they were in for a very tough game against the high flying newly promoted Penydarren BGC.
The deadlock was broken at The Bont Playing Fields in the 7th minute through Penydarren striker Joshua Brogden who guided his header into the far corner after a great cross from winger Alex Long.
Penydarren BGC went close just minutes later as a tremendous strike from Alex Long just whistled past the post after another great offensive move from Penydarren.
After continued pressure, Kerry Mullins’ side doubled their lead through Alex Long. A great through ball from Adam Lewis was played into the path of Long who fired remarkably past the advancing Josh Bolton.
Penydarren BGC were two goals to the good going into the break but they knew another strong 45 minutes was needed to seal their 7th win of the season in the Welsh Football League.
It was the visitors who started on the front foot in the early stages of the second half and pulled a goal back through Ben Thompson who finished composedly past Penydarren goalkeeper Stephen Price.
Chepstow were reduced to 10 men after Dan Wills was shown a straight red from referee Danial Barclay after a bad challenge on Penydarren BGC midfielder Connor Kinsey.
After Chepstow thought they had a real foothold in the game Penydarren were awarded a penalty by referee Danial Barclay as Joshua Brogden was brought down in the box after he beat a defender with neat footwork. Brogden calmly slotted home for his 10th of the season.
Penydarren found their fourth of the game four minutes later as Asa Lloyd beat two Chepstow Town AFC players to comfortable slot home into the bottom right-hand corner from close range.
Minutes later Lloyd was in and around the action again as he delivered a fantastic cross towards the back post but substitute Jarred Pike failed to get the final touch on it.
