Former Newtown striker Jason Oswell has joined Vanarama National League side Wrexham.
He joins The Red Dragons on a permanent deal from Morecambe, penning an 18-month contract with the North Wales club.
Oswell had only been at Morecambe since the summer following a move from Vanarama National League North side Stockport County. During his time with Morecambe, he made 17 appearances in the league, but could only score once. His only other goal game in the Checkatrade Trophy.
Speaking to WrexhamAFC.co.uk, manager Graham Barrow said: “I’m delighted to have secured the services of Jason here at Wrexham for at least 18 months.
“He’s a natural goal scorer who I have monitored for a while. He will come in now and help out up front, an area that I have been wanting to strengthen during this January window.”
Oswell scored 28 goals in 47 appearances for Stockport County in the sixth tier of English football last season, earning him a move to The Globe Arena.
The 26-year-old had playing spells in Wales with Rhyl, Airbus UK Broughton and Newtown. It was at Newtown where he excelled, scoring 56 goals in 104 appearances for the Robins. His goals helped Newtown reach the UEFA Europa League qualifiers.
He was also a Welsh Premier League runner-up with Airbus in 2014. Oswell also has a Welsh Cup runners-up medal, from the 2015 final against The New Saints.
