Former Carmarthen Town striker Christian Doidge has made a move to Scottish Premiership side Hibernian

The Forest Green Rovers star – who has netted 59 goals in 107 appearances for the club – has departed The New Lawn outfit.

As well as the Old Gold, Doidge has also represented  Welsh sides Cwmbran Celtic, Croesyceiliog and Barry Town United, before joining the Nailsworth outfit in 2016.

Upon signing for the Edinburgh side, Doidge said: “I felt like I knew exactly what he wanted from me within 10 seconds. He’s very clear in his instructions and I think it will really suit my game.

“I’m looking forward to working under him.

“I like getting after the ball with a high work-rate, making a nuisance of myself for defenders and playing off the shoulder. I like to attack crosses – just an all-round number nine, really.”

The 26-year-old joined then-Championship side Bolton Wanderers on loan in the summer of 2018, with the view to signing permanently in January 2019.

However, following the Trotters’ financial struggles, he returned to Rovers in January to see out the remainder of the 2018-19 campaign.

The former Southampton and Bristol Rovers youth product played for Carmarthen Town from 2013 to 2014, scoring 19 times in his 43 appearances.

The Hibees, who finished fifth in last season’s Scottish Premiership, are expected to pay in the region of £250,000 for Doidge’s services.

A fellow Welshman, Tom James, is expected to join Doidge in making the move up north.

The former Cardiff City youth player, 23, has spent the last two seasons with Yeovil Town, playing 78 times for the Glovers, who were relegated to the National League after finishing bottom of Sky Bet League Two.

The defender won two caps for Wales under-19s in 2014, and played 38 times in both of the previous two seasons as Huish Park.
