Barry Town United confirmed their place in the top-six play-offs after narrowly defeating Cardiff Metropolitan.

Momodou Touray scored his first goal of the season to earn Barry their first win at Cyncoed Campus since their return to the Welsh top flight.

Touray – who went 807 minutes without scoring – scored in the first minute of the second half in an evenly contested match.

In a game of fewer chances, Touray’s strike was a moment of individual brilliance in a cagey affair.

Met are consigned to the relegation play-offs after Newtown’s late win at Aberystwyth made for a six-point gap with two games remaining.

The hosts created the first meaningful opportunity as they tried to empose themselves onto the fixture early on.

Mike Lewis saved Jordan Lam’s header from Eliot Evans’ cross after the Met attacker wheeled away from his marker.

An already-depleted Barry was forced into an early change as the returning Jon Hood was substituted in the sixth minute for Paul Morgan after sustaining an injury.

The Barry keeper was forced into further action as Dylan Rees’ curling shot was parried away after Dan Spencer’s hold-up work.

Barry almost scored with their first chance which came from nothing.

Rhys Abbruzzese’s thirty-yard free-kick was cleared off the line from Kyle McCarthy

Luke Cooper and Modou Touray then had opportunities with Touray forcing Fuller into action.

Neither side could find the net in the first-half with Met shading it in regards to chances created and possession.

A common occurrence continued for the Met as they fell behind after not taking their chances.

Touray’s shot from the far side sailed past an unsuspecting Will Fuller .

Kayne McLaggon had fell in the box but was cautioned for simulation despite holding the ball up well from Emlyn Lewis’ challenges previously.

Midfield Charlie Corsby shot just yards wide of the post as Met searched for an equaliser.

Touray already on the scoresheet with a fine effort almost scored a long-range effort but his shot went just over the bar.

Barry were forced to deal with some late pressure but Lewis continued to defend his goal well.

Lam attempted to sneak the shot under Lewis’ legs but the Barry keeper blocked for a corner. Eliot Evans’ half-volley was then cleared off of the line.

McLaggon and Morgan would force Fuller into further saves as they tried to stop a late Met push.

Barry were able to quell any late Met pressure despite a number of corners to secure a second straight away victory.
