Luke Bowen scored in stoppage time to secure a vital point for Carmarthen as Penybont let slip of their victory.

Bowen’s 93rd minute effort cancelled out Kostya Georgievsky’s tenth-minute goal as Carmarthen come out of the festive period with four points taken from their relegation rivals.

Georgievsky’s goal had came against the run of play, with Penybont sitting on their one-goal lead for a majority of the match.

The hosts had opportunities to double but Carmarthen’s equaliser was inevitable given their late pressure.

Despite only gaining one point, Penybont moved off bottom spot, overtaking Airbus UK Broughton whilst Carmarthen move out of the relegation zone on the virtue of goal difference.

Liam Thomas – goalscorer on Boxing Day – tried to begin proceedings with an early goal but his shot was curled over the goal from Greg Walters pass.

Against the run of play, Penybont scored the opening goal courtesy of former Old Gold forward Kostya Georgievsky.

On-loan Cardiff City attacker Daniel Griffiths headed across goal to Georgievsky to header home past Lee Idzi.

Having let slip of their one-goal lead at Richmond Park, Penybont searched for a second-goal to provide them with some insurance on their lead.

Nathan Wood’s long-ranged effort deflected past the goal.

Rhys Wilson was forced to tip over Bowen’s quickly-taken effort after Jordan Vickers found the striker in a congested box.

Bowen had a further opportunity to score but his shot sailed over the bar with Kris O’Leary’s side going in behind at the break.

Penybont were forced to put their bodies in the way of another of Carmarthen attempts as they tried to stop an equaliser.

They were conceding possession cheaply though as Carmarthen came at the hosts with a wave of attacks.

Nathan Wood and Jemmett-Hutson went close to another run of play goal with Hutson’s bicycle kick being well saved by Idzi.

Given the importance of the match at the bottom of the table, Declan Carroll was booked for his protests as Carmarthen’s appeals for a penalty were waved away.

Jay Woodford forced Rhys Wilson into a save as he curled in a shot after Penybont failed to clear following some pinballing in the box.

Debutant Lewis Rocke almost found Liam Thomas for a leveller but the usually-reliable striker saw his header glance agonisingly wide of the target.

Michael George then made a heroic block on Bowen, injuring himself in the process.

Substitute Chris Jones forced Wilson to tip a shot over the bar as he attempted to lift the ball over the Penybont goalkeeper.

Penybont then struck the post with a rare opportunity as Jemmett-Hutson tried to catch Idzi out.

Five additional minutes were shown and Carmarthen continued to come at Penybont.

The hosts became victims of their own downfall once more as their defensive frailties continued as they allowed Luke Bowen to score his third goal in two games against the hosts.

A corner was flown into the box and having been denied with his first attempt, Bowen touched home to spark jubilant scenes from the travelling supporters.

Owain Warlow hit a wayward effort wide in the last attempt of the game as Penybont for a second game lose grip of their victory after scoring first.
