Barry Town United manager Gavin Chesterfield believes the club’s new signings, complimented with their experience, will benefit them heading into their Europa League clash against NSI Runavik.

The Linnets face the Faroese outfit on Thursday evening, hoping to progress to the next phase of the competition.

Chesterfield is confident that his side are in good stead ahead of the game, and says they are in high spirits.

The level of competition in the group is huge,” he said.

But also there’s a high level of togetherness as well, and we go into this fixture in a really good place.

I’m pretty confident to say that this is the best squad of players I’ve worked with at this football club, and in any other football club for that matter.

The Linnets made the high-profile signing of former Wales international David Cotterill last summer, but he has featured just two times since making the switch to the Jenner Park outfit.

David brings a calmness to the group. His quality is there for everybody to see,” admitted Chesterfield.

His career has been exceptional. He’s a fierce competitor. Every day in training and every game we’re a part of he wants to win.

I know he’s excited by this challenge like we all are. We’re lucky to have him, it’s great to have him around the place, his experience rubs off on other people.

Looking at it last year, he played two or three games and then COVID hit. It will be exciting to see what he can do.

Chesterfield also believes the additions of Curtis Hutson, Michael George and Nathaniel Jarvis have added a different element to the squad and is excited about their prospects ahead of the new campaign.

Curtis and Mikey are really competitive guys.” he said.

They have brought an added level of stimulus to the group, that fresh face does give that.

“The two guys have really developed themselves over recent years, so it’s just an exciting place to be at the moment.

“Nat has brought something different to the group as well. His experiences will add much to the group.

“They are guys that have matured with us, and there’s still a way to go on their development which is exciting.
