Danny Williams scored a last-minute equaliser for Haverfordwest County as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Caernarfon Town.

Williams’ last-gasp effort pencilled out Caernarfon’s centre forward Mike Hayes strike after he scored fifteen minutes earlier.

The second half was dominated by a midfield tussle where Darren Thomas stood out for the visitors and it was his efforts which opened the games scoring through Hayes.

The home side will look at two key match incidents when shouts for handball midway through the second half could have changed the course of the game.

A goalless first half, dominated by both defences needed some quality to be added to the player’s endeavours.

Home skipper Sean Pemberton and teenager Alaric Jones governed the defensive line, Mike Hayes running through onto balls from Noah Edwards and Darren Thomas, troubling Matt Turner on just one occasion, the Leeds United loanee quick out of his box to head clear.

Turner showed his value, despite his tentative years with a save from a Thomas free-kick after Jones had picked up a yellow card for a rash challenge on the edge of his box, the goalkeeper looking calm and assured which brings its own confidence to Wayne Jones side.

Joe Williams, the visitors captain was also cautioned for a shirt pull on Ben Fawcett, the diminutive striker alongside Marcus Griffiths and an impressive Danny Williams causing a few headaches, although Jamie Crowther remained calm in the middle of the Cofios defensive line.

Cameron Keetch had struck the post with a left-foot free-kick minutes before he hobbled off to be replaced by Jack Wilson and it was the teenager who sparked some infusion with shot inches wide after being put through by Williams and Fawcett combination play.

Wilson also drove over from twenty yards with five minutes of the half to play, his effort presented after some pinball in the eighteen yard box following debutant Elliot Scotcher’s corner, taken in front of his dad Gavin, nestling amongst the supporters from both teams on the bank over looking the Bridge Meadow.

The second half showed more endeavour, both central midfield pairings bringing some offensive play, the home front three of Fawcett, Griffith’s and especially Williams once again looking dangerous.

Wilson also came into the game, with two penalty shouts in thirty seconds for handball turned down by referee Jenkins which caused some frustration as they were key incidents, the goal from Hayes taking the final fifteen minutes up a notch in terms of emotion.

Tibbetts was cautioned for time wasting as Nicky Palmer and Scott Tanncock joined the action, Haverfordwest moving Pemberton forward as they took siege to the visiting goal. Wilson’s long throw found Pemberton’s head which went wide, Fawcett also snatched at goal with a a left footed drive, before Williams caused some euphoria at the Bridge Meadow.
