Penybont secured their grip on a Cymru Premier top six spot as they claimed an emphatic victory 6-0 victory over Caernarfon Town at the SDM Glass Stadium.

Braces for Lewis Harling and Kostya Georgievksy were followed by goals for Ben Ahmun and Ian Traylor as Penybont rampantly defeated Caernarfon.

A real statement of content for Penybont, the win means the side push further into the top-six as we edge closer to phase two.

Caeraerfon’s defensive weaknesses were prominent as they gifted the hosts chances throughout.

Penybont had the first chance of the game as the make-shift right back Mael Davies found space just inside the box. His shot, however, was unable to open the scoring.

The hosts were rewarded for their positive start when a Kane Owen corner found Lewis Harling whose front post flick on almost caught Tyler French off guard. The goalkeeper tipped the ball onto the crossbar but Kostya Georgievsky was on hand to convert from close.

Last week’s goal-scorer Ben Ahmun showcased his ability with the ball at his feet when he beat defender Joe Williams before delivering a dangerous cross into the area.

The visitors squandered a golden opportunity to draw the game level on the half hour mark when striker Jack Kenny was played through one-on-one before firing high over the crossbar.

Rhys Griffiths’ side were dangerous out wide with Mael Davies and Georgievsky providing crosses in dangerous areas throughout the first half.

Nathan Wood was denied a goal when the linesman raised his flag after the attacker stuck the ball into the back of the net.

The hosts’ lead was extended just before the half when Harling finished composedly after being set-up by Ahmun.

Midfielder Ashley Evans came close to adding a third at the start of the second half when he was found on the edge of the box but his attempt was saved superbly.

It seemed the floodgates had opened as Wood was next to have an attempt when he almost capitalised on a Noah Edwards mistake. His quick feet allowed him to find an angle but his shot was denied by French.

Two turned three when Harling played Gerogievsky through on goal and the latter had time to open his body and pick the bottom right corner.

Caernarfon’s defensive frailties were prominent throughout and they were punished in the 67th minute when Harling got his second.  Georgievsky returned the favour when his inch-perfect cross found Harling with heaps of time to bring the ball down and finish to the goalkeeper’s left.

Ahmun increased his scoring streak to three consecutive games when he hammered home with a left-footed volley inside the box.

Substitute Ian Traylor extended the lead further when he converted from a cross from the left-hand side.

Penybont held onto the lead well until the end, seeing the result out successfully.
