Next Cefn Druids manager: Who could replace Bruno Lopes?

Cefn Druids confirmed on Wednesday morning the departure of head coach Bruno Lopes with immediate effect.

Following a 2-4 defeat to Newtown, Cefn Druids announced they had parted company with Lopes.

Druids have had a disappointing season who are currently sitting bottom of the league.

Jason Starkey has been confirmed as temporary manager while the club start the process for a new head coach.

Below are a list of suggestions of who could be considered a real candidate for the oldest club in Wales.

Niall McGuinness:

Former Rhyl & Flint manager has had three experience in the Cymru Premier most recently with Flint Town United.

McGuinness was the youngest person to get a manager position when he took over at Rhyl.

He’s also had success as a manager winning the league cup and winning promotion with Flint Town United.

Scott Roscoe:

An ambitious appointment would be former saints manager Scott Roscoe following his departure over the weekend, the former Saints manager has confirmed he’s ready to get back into management.

Roscoe is a two time league winner as a manager, he also won the league cup and Welsh Cup.

Jayson Starkey:

A familiar face to Cefn Druids and to the league is Jason Starkey, who could be seen as a safe pair of hands.

Starkey has had plenty of experience as an assistant manager to Darren Moss and Huw Griffiths.

If Cefn Druids board can’t get their number one target, do the club play it safe and go with someone they know and trust?

Steve O’Shaughnessy:

Another interesting appointment would be current Airbus manager Steve O’Shaughnessy.

O’Shaughnessy has got a lot of experience in Wales having played in the league and also as a manager. He’s been at Connah’s Quay, Bala and now at Airbus.

Airbus had a fantastic season in the Cymru North and having won the league and rightly so, it was the complete opposite when they returned to the Cymru Premier, Airbus suffered relegation back to the Cymru North. Would O’Shaughnessy see the Druids job another opportunity to prove himself at that level?
