The Cymru Premier title will be decided on the final day of the season. Two points separate Connah’s Quay Nomads and The New Saints.

Table-topping Nomads will travel down to Penybont, while TNS host Bala Town.

Connah’s Quay defeated Penybont 1-0 in September, drew to them in March and lost to them in April.

A win for the Nomads will guarantee the title remains in North Wales.

Despite falling short in injury time last weekend, Penybont secured fourth spot in the Cymru Premier.

Here are the key duels to look out for as Penybont hope to dent Connah’s Quay’s title hopes:

Poole v Owen

Declan Poole of Connahs Quay (R) in action against Lewis Clutton of Penybont (L) Penybont v Connahs Quay at Bryntirion Park in the JD Cymru Premier on the 13th March 2021.Lewis Mitchell/Penybont FC

Declan Poole starred in his 100th competitive game for the Nomads in a 4-0 victory over Caernarfon Town last weekend. His cross from the right-hand side set up Jamie Insall to take the lead in the first half.

Cutting in from the right and crossing with his left foot is becoming a trademark for Poole, who provided a very similar assist to Michael Wilde in Connah’s Quay’s 4-1 victory over TNS last month.

Either deployed as a left-back or central midfielder, Penybont captain Kane Owen may be responsible for limiting Poole’s impact.

The ex-Cardiff City academy player has settled into the SDM Glass Stadium superbly and has been one of the club’s best players this season. He’s assured, reliable and hard to beat.

Georgievsky v Davies

On the opposite side of the pitch, it’s likely that Kostya Georgievsky will face Danny Davies.

Penybont’s Georgievsky hit a purple patch of form towards the start of Phase Two of the campaign, scoring three in five games.

One of the goals came in the reverse fixture, as he put the game to bed after being played through on goal by a Mael Davies throw in.

Ex-professional cricketer Danny Davies has taken to life at Connah’s Quay superbly.

The left-wing-back has impressed during his first season at the club, and he may be tasked with the role of nullifying lively Georgievsky on Saturday afternoon.

Curran v Jefferies

Daniel Jefferies of Penybont in action Penybont v Flint Town United at Bryntirion Park in the JD Cymru Premier on the 20th March 2021.Lewis Mitchell/Penybont FC

Connah’s Quay will be without top scorer Michael Wilde who is suspended following an accumulation of yellow cards.

There’s a few candidates of who could take the responsibility of filling the void.

Craig Curran is somebody more than capable of stepping up to the plate.

Curran doesn’t fit the same mould as Wilde in terms of build or play style, but is always the man for a big occasion. His 78th minute winner against Barry Town United kept the title in the hands of the Nomads.

Daniel Jefferies will have his work cut out to stop Curran.

Jefferies is tall, quick, physical and commanding, and was successful in keeping the Nomads attackers quiet last time the sides faced one another.
