Two players released by Millwall and Swansea City have found a new place to call home.

The two EFL Championship clubs released several players over the summer, with the Swans releasing 13, and the Lions releasing 10. Several players had already sorted their next club out months ago but for two others their latest move has only just been finalised.

Corey Hurford and Laquay Coleman have both signed with Cymru Premier outfit Pontypridd United. Both players are 19-years-old and have made their debut for the club, having been free to sign for them outside of the transfer window

Hurford joins the Dragons from Swansea after he was surprisingly let go. He went viral for a goal back in May in which he skilfully turned past the defender and scored with a clinical finish.

The right wing-back was at Swansea for a season-and-a-half after joining from Briton Ferry Llansawel alongside Cambrian & Clydach Vale’s Joe Thomas back in January 2022.

Hurford had quite the impact in his short spell with Briton Ferry, playing in 17 out of their 18 league games, and scoring five goals in the process in the 2021/22 campaign. He came off the bench and made a 22-minute cameo in the 3-1 defeat against Cardiff Met.

Centre-forward Laquay Coleman has also ended up at the South Wales club. The 18-year-old was let go by Millwall and alongside signing for Pontypridd, he is a part of the University of South Wales’ BUCS team, where he has enrolled at the university.

Coleman featured for Pontypridd’s under-19 team in the Development League and made his first-team debut against Abertillery Bluebirds in the Welsh Cup where he made an assist. He was an unused substitute in the 2-0 defeat to Barry Town United and made his league debut against Cardiff Met, where he made a seven-minute cameo appearance.

In other news, Luke Gullick made his first competitive appearance in two years on Friday night. The 36-year-old appeared for Trethomas Bluebirds in their 3-2 win over Aberbargoed Buds in the FAW Amateur Trophy.

He said in a tweet: “So after 731 days (2 years 1day)since my last game.

“It’s been a long journey to get here but absolutely delighted to have played 45 minutes and make my debut for @TreBluebirdsFC a great performance by the boys to top off a great day. #Gullickisback.”
