Harry Wilson is in the form of his life, enjoying a standout season with Fulham ahead of a big international fixture with Wales.

The 28-year-old has been directly involved in 16 goals for the Cottagers this season, with his best performances coming since December. Only Erling Haaland of Manchester City and Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes have more goal contributions than Wilson’s 12 assists.

Fulham currently sit ninth in the Premier League, eight points behind Liverpool. European football could still be on the horizon at Craven Cottage, depending on the outcomes of the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, as well as the performances of English clubs in the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League.

His form has caught the attention of Fulham’s Premier League rivals, and with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, transfer speculation is running high. Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, known for breaking exclusive transfer stories, has made a bold claim.

Aston Villa hold Harry Wilson talks says Fabrizio Romano

Aston Villa currently sit fourth in the Premier League, level on points with Manchester United and three points ahead of Liverpool.

The Villains are no strangers to Europe’s elite competition, having qualified under manager Unai Emery in 2024 and reaching the quarter-finals, where they were narrowly defeated by eventual winners PSG.

With European football likely returning to Villa Park, the West Midlands club is reportedly seeking reinforcements and has identified the in-form Wales international as a potential target.

“Initial talks took place, journalist Romano said in a social media post shared on X on Tuesday.

‘Aston Villa are among clubs keen on signing Harry Wilson as a free agent in the summer, race open.

“A decision to follow in the next months.’

Marco Silva reveals Fulham’s stance

Harry Wilson joined Fulham from Liverpool in 2021, initially on loan, in a deal worth £12m. Since then, the Corwen-born attacker has made 178 appearances, scoring 35 goals. Leaving Anfield was a big decision for Wilson, who had been with Liverpool since their under-9s.

Loan spells at Crewe Alexandra, Hull City, Derby County, AFC Bournemouth, and Cardiff City followed, but he struggled to break into Liverpool’s first team. Since joining Fulham, however, he hasn’t looked back, helping the club secure promotion in 2022 and playing a key role in establishing them as a competitive Premier League side.

“He’s enjoying this season. He has the people around him to take care of the contract situation,” Silva said to the Press Association in Fulham’s pre-match press conference, before their next match against West Ham United.

“Our club is trying to have contact with them as much as they can to solve it. I’m not going to hide it; the better he plays, the fight is going to be bigger.

“It’s clear, but we prefer it in this way. Of course, when a player goes into the last year of his contract and is performing so well, like Harry is doing, it’s going to happen.

“The reality is, we are not giving up at all. We are very pleased with him. He’s enjoying life with us as well.

“Now it’s a moment for the people around him to take care of his future and, of course, for us as a football club to try to get him with us for the next years.”

Big period for Wales

Wales will face Bosnia & Herzegovina in the FIFA World Cup Play-Off Semi-Final, with the winner set to host the victor of Italy vs Northern Ireland for a spot at the 2026 World Cup in Canada and the United States, where they would meet Canada, Qatar, and Switzerland in the group stage.

Harry Wilson was in sensational form in Wales’ final group game against North Macedonia, captaining the side and producing a hat-trick and an assist, helping Craig Bellamy’s team secure second place behind Belgium.
