A current Welsh Premier League manager, alongside those who have managed in the Welsh top flight, have been linked with the vacant Chester job.
Chester who were relegated to the Vanarama National League North, parted company with manager Marcus Bignot last month and are now identifying a successor, to spearhead a quick return to the fifth tier of English football.
The Chester Chronicle says that former New Saints boss Craig Harrison, who had a brief spell with Hartlepool United this season before parting ways with the club, is one of the candidates. He is joined by current Bangor City boss Kevin Nicholson who has been in charge of the Citizens for just under a year. Former Flint Town United boss Andy Holden is also a candidate, despite a brief spell of the club in the Cymru Alliance, before being succeeded by Niall McGuinness.
Current Runcorn Town boss Chris Herbert is also one of the candidates, having previously managed Conwy Borough, Cefn Druids and Flint Town United, having previously been part of Steve Burr’s coaching staff.
His assistant manager, Mark McGregor was player-manager of the Connah’s Quay Nomads, from 2009-2005, before a brief playing spell with the Cefn Druids, as he linked up with Herbert at Runcorn.
An appointment is expected to be made by the end of the month, with applicants having a 5 pm deadline tomorrow as the club prepares for the interview process next week.
