The New Saints have signed Swansea City starlet Ben Cabango and hardened goalkeeper Connor Roberts from Bangor City.

Cabanago and Roberts are just two of six summer recruits, in what has been a summer of movement from Park Hall.

The 25-year-old stopper joined Bangor from Chester in 2015 and made 85 appearances for the Citizens in total.

“I’m very happy to sign for such a successful team that is also my local club,” said Roberts after signing for the Welsh Premier League champions.

He added: “I’m looking forward to getting stuck into full-time football again”.

As well as joining as a first team player, he has been appointed Head Of Academy Goalkeeping at the Oswestry club.

TNS manager Scott Ruscoe said: “It’s a good signing for us, someone with experience and he knows the league. Connor will provide Paul Harrison with healthy competition, which we now have in every position in the squad”.

Regarding Bangor City, Roberts tweeted:

The Chirk born keeper has a lot of experience at 25 years old. His career began at Everton in their U18 and U21 sides and completed loans at Burscough & Colwyn Bay loans.

He moved on from the Toffies to Cheltenham Town in 2012 where he made one football league appearance. Throughout this time he picked up caps for the Wales U19 and U21 sides and even earned a call-up to the full Wales squad in June 2014.

Roberts signed for Conference Premier side Chester for the 2014/15 season but failed to make an appearance.

After being released he signed for Bangor City making 31 appearances in all competitions in his first season with The Citizens. That was followed by 38 apps in the 2016/17 season. A drop to 18 appearances this past season and now a move to Park Hall will see a fresh start for Roberts.

Cabanago, 18, will link up with The New Saints up until January, after joining from Swansea City’s academy side. He has played a majority of his football for the Swansea City U23’s side, which finished fourth in the U23s Premier League.

“It’s a top side and when I knew that the club wanted me, that was a positive sign. Being involved in the Champions League will be a new experience. I can’t wait to get started”. said Cabango on joining the Champions.
