Connah’s Quay Nomads’ Craig Chisholm has completed a move to join USA side Quincy Hawks Soccer on a scholarship.
A strong and pacy midfielder with an eye for goal, he was a regular for the Nomads’ youth side which plays in the Welsh Premier League U19s Development league.
Chisholm played a vital role in the squad, who were title contenders for much of the campaign, and was called up to Andy Morrison’s first team during the past season.
He was also involved in the 19s’ FAW Youth Cup run, which saw them reach the semi finals, losing out 4-0 to Swansea City who went on to win their ninth consecutive FAW Youth Cup in the final over Cardiff.
He will now make the near 4,000 mile journey to join Quincy Hawks, a university side who go up against rival university teams across the North of the country.
Chisholm becomes the fifth Nomads’ youth product to secure a US-based scholarship from the club’s expansive academy.
In 2016 the club sent a trio to the States after they impressed in both the U19s and first team.
Tom Bibby joined Texas side San Antonio after breaking into the first team, with Jack Chambers heading to Thomas University in Georgia.
Fellow academy man James Kilburn secured a move to Nebraska’s Midland University whilst in 2017, Jake Van Schie joined the University of Davenport.
5th @the_nomads @colegcambria scholar to date to gain a scholarship in USA! Partnership and program growing stronger each season. #academyscholars https://t.co/rYEzfjKzbc
