Mid Wales Preview – Matchday 7

There are just five games being played in Mid Wales this weekend. Ahead of the fixtures in the Spar MidWales League Division One and Division Two, we delve into the fixtures and preview the fixtures going ahead this weekend.

Mid Wales Division One

Radnor Valley vs Welshpool

Radnor come into this game on the back of five straight wins, seeing them sit at the top of the league. Their latest win was an impressive away performance at Llansantffraid on 11th September, as they secured a 4-1 win.

Welshpool will have to be at their very best to come away with all three points to boost their start to the season. They have experienced some inconsistent form of late with a draw, two wins and two losses; the latest coming last Friday as they went down 3-0 at home to Builth Wells.

Builth Wells vs Aberaeron

Builth Wells will head into this match in buoyant mood following their away win over Welshpool last time out and will be hoping to string together a run of wins.

Inconsistency has been a problem of Aberaeron’s this season, with their record of two wins in five games. But the club have recruited well this summer and will be hoping that their more experienced players like Elwyn Edwards will guide their younger players to a more steady string of performances soon.

Mid Wales Division Two

Dyffryn Banw vs Abermule

Form over the last five games would indicate that a home win would be on the cards this weekend. But Abermule will provide a stern test.

Wins for Abermule against Dolgellau away and most recently Hay St Mary’s will give Dyffryn a cause for concern; given the 7-0 loss they experienced recently against Hey St Mary’s.

They will have to close down Abermule’s Adam Williams to get a result this Saturday after the midfielder’s four goals already this season.

Newbridge-on-Wye vs Borth Utd

This game will prove a stern test for both sides, as the two sides will be hoping to build some momentum after the opening period of the season.

Newbridge boast a better record this season, which includes a thumping 12-1 victory last month but have since lost the last two games.

Borth United, on the other hand, are still adjusting to life at this level, having only won once in five games. They were unfortunate not to get all three points in their last game which finished 5-5 at home to Waterloo Rovers. Ryan Davies will be hoping to get on the score sheet again after his hattrick against Waterloo.
