Conwy Borough move quickly as they swiftly appoint Warren Gibbs as new manager

Conwy Borough have named former Glantraeth boss Warren Gibbs as their new first team manager, following the departure of Gareth Thomas.

The Tangerines parted company with last season’s League and Cup winning manager Gareth Thomas on Tuesday and appointed Gibbs on the same day.

The former Glantraeth boss won the Welsh Alliance League with the Anglesey based side but due to ground criteria, the club were forced to remain in the Welsh Alliance League, before folding from the division altogether.

He will be reunited with frontman Corrig McGonigle who worked under Gibbs during their time at Glantraeth.

On his appointment as the new Conwy boss, Warren Gibbs said to ConwyBoroughFC.co.uk: “Conwy is a great club and the set up is excellent.

“I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to manage a team in the Cymru Alliance and I am really looking forward to linking up with the players. I am well aware that its a tough league and it will be a real challenge, but one that I will relish and step up to.”

Club chairman Chris Wilton also spoke to ConwyBoroughFC.co.uk and was delighted to have appointed Gibbs, given his experience in the division.

“Warren has a great track record and he has already worked with several of our players when they were at Glantraeth which was a big positive for us.

“The board are really pleased to have secured the appointment and we look forward to working with him.”

Gibbs will take charge of his first Conwy Borough match on the 15th December, when they host Gresford Athletic at Y Morfa Stadium.
