Cardiff Met earned their spot in the next round of the Nathaniel MG Cup as they comfortably disposed of Ammanford 4-0 away from home at the Recreation Ground.

Emlyn Lewis opened the scoring after just two minutes, and the returning Adam Roscrow doubled the lead shortly after. Matt Chubb and Chris Baker secured the victory with goals in the second half.

Despite a healthy mixture of experience and youth, Ammanford couldn’t cope with Cardiff Met’s pace, and on the other end, the South West Walians struggled to break through the students’ defence.

Lewis’ opener resulted from a free-kick, played in by Baker from the left-wing. After the ball was headed around by a few players, it fell to the centre-back who fired home from the edge of the box.

Roscrow had a golden opportunity moments after Craig Davies did well down the right-wing then crossed it to the striker, whose shot was straight at Morris.

Ten minutes later, Roscrow made no mistake. Ammanford failed to clear a goal-mouth scramble, and the ball fell to Roscrow who tapped it in for one of the easiest finishes of his career.

Ammanford failed to get anything out of the Met defence, although there were plenty of appeals for fouls, particularly from Lee Trundle. Liam Samuel was brought down by Emlyn Lewis in the box, but the referee waved play on, much to the chagrin of the home crowd.

Roscrow found himself with plenty of opportunities before the end of the half. In the half’s final minutes, he got onto the end of a long ball and attempted to chip it over Craig Morris who has come off his line, but the shot was wide of the goal.

After a cagey start to the second half, Met got the first real chance fifteen minutes into the half, after they were awarded a free-kick on the edge of the box. Harry Owen curled it over the wall, but Craig Morris did well to tip it over the bar.

Five minutes later, Matt Chubb put the result beyond doubt. The right-back had plenty of space down his wing and he coolly slotted it last Morris.

In the dying minutes, Chris Baker added a fourth and final goal. Debutant Danny Warre – who looked lively after coming off the bench – did well to dribble the ball around Morris, and although his original shot was cleared off the line, the ball landed straight back at his feet, and he squared to Baker who had a simple finish.
