Llandudno closed the gap to league leaders Airbus to four points on Friday night with a comfortable 2-0 win against Holyhead Hotspur.

Llandudno had the advantage early doors when Holyhead’s Leon Doran was sent off after a challenge on former Llanrwst Utd teammate Matt Mullender.

After a goalless first 45, Llandudno came out strong in the second half with Toby Jones calmly putting them in front three minutes into the second half.

Jones scored yet again with 67 minutes on the clock with a curling effort that crept in the top corner.

Llandudno stay in second despite the victory but now load the pressure back onto Airbus who face Llanrhaeadr Ym Mochnant next.

The game started brightly for the visitors, they looked keen to get numbers forward in the early stages with November’s player of the month Liam Morris firing a shot just wide with a few minutes gone.

Holyhead then quickly found themselves with an uphill task when Leon Doran saw red for a challenge on former Llanrwst Utd teammate Matt Mullender.

Morris was involved again not long after when he struck a shot from outside the box, there were shouts for handball from a few of the Hotspur players but nothing given by the referee.

Llandudno started to dominate the ball with the man advantage with Marc Williams going close with a volley after 13 minutes.

The rest of the first half saw little in the way of clear-cut chances but importantly for the visitors they were still in the game.

The second half saw a very purposeful start from the Seasiders. Toby Jones was slid through in the 48th minute and slotted the ball calmly into the net under Pritchard in the Holyhead goal.

Danny Brookwell was lively in the second half putting dangerous crosses in across the Holyhead box but to no avail. He also came close after 53 minutes with an effort that clipped the post.

It soon became a very long way back for Holyhead when Toby Jones grabbed his second of the game with a curling effort into the top right corner.

Llandudno played out the rest of the game professionally with no clear chances for the visitors to get back into the game.
