Connah’s Quay Nomads’ season has been thrown into chaos after being deducted 18 points at an independent hearing.
The Nomads and the Football Association of Wales were yesterday in court to dispute whether the former had broken the FAW’s rules in regards to player eligibility over their registration.
It was found that Nomads had indeed breached two of their rules in regards to registering a player outside of the transfer window and playing them in a number of fixtures.
The first ruling which was broken was of Cymru Premier rule 12.6(b) in which two players were registered to List A after the closure of the first Professional Registration period but before the opening of the second in the 2021/2022 season.
The second rule which was broken was 14.1, in which the second player played in six JD Cymru Premier matches when he was an ineligible player at the time.
Connah’s Quay will be replaced by Caernarfon Town and will be dropped to the play-off conference section. They will be on 16 points as they will be six points from safety.
Cardiff Met Uni FC will be the team they will most likely face this Saturday following the points deduction announced today.
Both teams last met in the final of the Nathaniel MG Cup in which the Nomads were winners on the day.
